Carriage Bolts, also known as coach bolts or round head square neck bolts, are distinguished by their rounded, dome-shaped head and a square section right beneath it.
The square section grips into the material to prevent the bolt from turning, while the rounded head provides a clean finish. These bolts typically have a partially or fully threaded shank.
Carriage bolts are primarily made from carbon steel, stainless steel, or galvanized steel, offering durability and corrosion resistance. They are widely used in wood applications, as the square neck bites into the wood to hold the bolt in place during tightening.
